CAHS Musical Auditions for “White Christmas”

Auditions for the Musical “White Christmas” will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Please sign up in the Main office for a one hour audition time slot. Auditions will be held in the auditorium.

CAHS Parking Permits

shutterstock_28441540Attention students presently driving to school. You will need to purchase your parking permit by September 20th at a cost of $35.00. Starting Monday, September 23rd a parking permit is required to park in the lot and the price will go up to $40.00. If you park without a permit, you will be ticketed. See Mr. Pickett at the greeter desk to buy a permit. Please have your license number at that time. Any questions or problems, see Mr. Pickett.

First Day of School at Randels

Randels students were excited for their first day back at school! They participated in ice breakers, played games and got to know their new classmates and teachers!

Representatives from the Military and various Colleges Begin Next Week

Representatives from the military and colleges will be starting to visit next week. Please check the bulletin board outside the guidance office for an updated list of upcoming visits. If interested in visiting with the representative at the given time a permission slip must be filled out. Slips are available in the guidance office. You must have your teacher’s permission to miss class that hour.

CA Teachers Win Contests and Become Published!

shutterstock_110298509 (1)Congrats to Jessyca Mathews & Carrie Mattern, Carman-Ainsworth Teachers!

Carrie Mattern has written ALL ABOUT JANE, a work that won 2nd prize in the 2013 Sunset (prose writers) Contest. Jessyca Mathews won the MANA’s 2013 poetry contest. Both talented women are Language Arts teachers at Carman-Ainsworth High School. If you would like to meet these local authors and learn more about them, following are upcoming opportunities:

Carrie Mattern, will be reading at the Flint Crepe from 6:30-7:30, on Friday, Sept. 13 followed by a book signing. And on Saturday, Sept. 14, she will sign books and interact with attendees outside of A Bit of Earth’s booth (Farmer’s Market) from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Jessyca Mathews & Carrie Mattern will be hosts of an open mike event at Cafe Rhema (432 S. Saginaw Street, Flint) the last Tuesday of every month beginning in October. Jessyca and Carrie will be doing a book signing at Biggby Coffee on Thursday, Oct. 17 (more details to follow).  The pair will also will be participating in the November 8 Greater Flint Arts Council Art Walk, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Also, Ben Anderson’s wife Jaime (Ben is a teacher at Rankin Elementary School) appeared on ABC 12’s Newsmakers last weekend to promote their recent child’s book (Life Lessons of Liam and Lila), which is one of a planned series. Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Grades 3-8

This league is designed for both beginning and experienced players, and no previous basketball experience is required.

 TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

Players will be assigned to teams based upon their grade, height, gender and level of experience. Immediate family members in the same division will be placed together.

Athletic Hall of Fame

shutterstock_133311767The Carman-Ainsworth Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome its Class of 2013 into membership on Saturday, October 26 at the Holy Redeemer Family Life Center on Bristol Road. Social hour will be held from 4:30- 5:30 p.m., with dinner catered by Italia Gardens at 5:30 p.m. and program to follow.

Individuals being honored include 1983 Ainsworth High School Track and Cross Country star Jim Featherston; 1982 Ainsworth High School State Champion wrestler and football star Scott Savoie; 1977 Carman High School three sport star in track, speedball, and volleyball Mona Wirostek; and 1991 Carman-Ainsworth High School State Champion in Ski Racing and Track, Scott Faculak. In addition, a special service award will be presented posthumously to 1964 Basketball and Football star Louis Schlosser, remembered by many as the number one supporter of athletes in the district for more than forty years.

Teams that will be honored include the 1969 Carman High School football champions and the 1975 Ainsworth High School football Metro Champions. Both of these teams were led by Coach by Gary Cole.

45 Year Reunion For Carman and Ainsworth Classes of 1968
