Carman-Ainsworth High School Thespians

Superintendent Tunnicliff introduced Mrs. Delynne Miller, senior high language arts and theatre teacher.

Ms. Miller introduced seniors, Miss Tahirah Gaines and Mr. Darian Vaughn, who recently participated in the Shrek theatrical performance at the high school. Miss Gaines and Mr. Vaughn are active members of the Drama Club and compete in various areas at the State Thespian Festival, including in the solo musical category where they each received superior ratings. Miss Gaines and Mr. Vaughn have received impressive college scholarships and are carefully assessing their options. Ms. Miller added she was proud of both students, not only for their talent, but also for their tremendous work ethic. Each introduced family present.

2014-2015 Thespian Teacher Hall of Fame Award

Superintendent Tunnicliff announced Ms. Delynne Miller is the sole recipient of the Michigan Educational Theater Association’s (META) Hall of Fame Award for the 2014-2015 school year. Reading from the META press release, Superintendent Tunnicliff stated, “This award is presented to an outstanding theatre educator each year. The nominee must have been in service for a minimum of 15 years and should demonstrate excellence in the classroom, and exceptional skills as a theatre director and program leader. Candidates must also make significant commitments to serving the Michigan Education Theater Association.”

Superintendent Tunnicliff commented Ms. Miller is not merely a teacher, but a quality individual with character who always selects the most difficult shows for her students to perform-many of which continue their theatrical studies in college. Ms. Miller introduced family present and thanked the Board.

Carman-Ainsworth Middle School Students

Superintendent Tunnicliff introduced the principal of the middle school, Mr. Summey, and his leadership team, Mr. Charmoli and Mr. Kalinin. Mr. Summey stated it was a pleasure to stand before the Board to recognize exemplary students. Mr. Summey introduced Miss Sarah Palmer, an outstanding 6th grader. Miss Palmer is an excellent student who goes above and beyond that which is expected. She is involved, caring, focused on school, and a mature individual. Miss Palmer received a certificate of recognition and introduced family present.

Mr. Charmoli, middle school assistant principal, introduced Miss Nicole Jones. Miss Jones, a 7th grader, is never seen without a smile. She is energetic, kind, and very involved in many activities, including theatre. Ms. Bendle, middle school social studies teacher, added Miss Jones is a joy to have in class every day. Miss Jones received a certificate of recognition and introduced family present.

Mr. Summey introduced Mr. Chase Williams, a 6th grader. Mr. Williams designed the Christmas card for the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. He is quite, a hard worker, and has a gift to draw. Mr. Summey commended Mr. Williams for providing art work for the greater community. Mr. Williams received a certificate of recognition and introduced family present.

Mr. Summey introduced 8th grader, Mr. Adam Baker, a fantastic young man who is both humble and articulate. Mr. Kalinin, middle school assistant principal, added Mr. Baker is also a gifted athlete and was lead vocalist in the recent theatre production. Mr. Baker has been a pleasure to work with and can accomplish anything. He is a young man with a bright and promising future who exudes empathy and kindness, both with peers and staff. Mr. Baker received a certificate of recognition and introduced family present.
