Big MO Competes At Great Lakes Bay Region FIRST® Robotics District Competition

The Carman-Ainsworth FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition®) Team 314 did compete this last weekend at the Great Lakes Bay Region FIRST® Robotics District Competition with 39 other teams from around the state to earn points and qualify for a spot at the Michigan FRC State Championship. This was their second competition this year. They had a fantastic weekend.

  • Overall Rank:  1st in the District event
  • Was in the 1st ranking position all weekend
  • Was the 1st Alliance Captain which we selected Team 2619, The Charge (Midland) and Team 5712, Gray Matter (Rookie Team) (Hemlock)
  • Played in the Elimination matches. Went all the way to the finals.
  • We won the Excellence in Engineering Award. This award celebrates elegant and advantageous machine features that no other robot displayed.  The winning team has demonstrated these characteristics in many ways from planning through design to execution.
  • We are also the 2015 Great Lakes Bay Region FIRST® Robotics District Competition Winners. Our Alliance was Team 2619, The Charge (Midland) and Team 5712, Gray Matter (Rookie Team) (Hemlock)
  • Because of these efforts we are currently in 3rd place in the State of Michigan out of 347 teams with 146 points earned towards the Michigan FRC State Championship.

Our next competitions are the following:

  • April 2 – 4, 2015  Lansing District Competition  (Mason High School, Mason)

When we qualify, the Michigan FRC State Championship will be April 8 – 11, 2015 in Grand Rapids at the DeltaPlex Arena.

I have been with this team as both a parent and now as a coach / advisor and I could not have been more proud of our students and the accomplishments they have done this last weekend.
