On the Road to Success at Dillon Elementary

Dillon’s Title I Program hosted our first family learning night on October 6.  Families were able to explore some of the many programs at Dillon that support students on their road to success.  Title I reading and math intervention tutors were available to meet parents and students to provide information about programs and answer questions.  Our counselor, Ms. Linn, presented information about our Mindfulness program.  Students designed race cars to start them on their own road to success.  After dinner, each student made a delicious race car treat for dessert!

Please watch the school newsletter and your child’s back pack for information about future family learning nights.

Dillon Drop off, Dismissal, and New Visitor Information

For safety reasons, when you drop your child off in the morning, please use the parent loop. There will be cones designating the area to drop your child off in. Please do NOT park in the loop. If you want to walk your child into the building, please park in the parking lot. If it is after 8:45 a.m., parents must park in the parking lot and walk your child into the office to sign them in. After 8:45 a.m. they are considered tardy and will be marked as such.

Children are not able to be signed out of school after 3:45 p.m. It is disruptive to our end of the day procedures. We appreciate your support with this so much! We start dismissing parent pick-ups at 3:54 p.m. Please make sure you are on time so your child is not left waiting in the office.

Thank you for your assistance and understanding in these matters. Our priority is always the safety of our students at Dillon Elementary.

Dillon Runs for Funds in “Color”

Parent Club would like to welcome you back to Dillon this year! Our fun and healthy “2015 Run for Funds in Color” fundraiser will take place in the afternoon of Friday, October 16. Our goal this year is to raise $7,000, that is just $25 per student. The entire school, whether you donate or not, will participate in this event as we encourage a healthy lifestyle. We encourage your family’s entire participation in this event since this is our largest fundraiser of the year. Reach out to family, friends and co-workers to ask for donations. We do not want children going door to door. As always, all money raised by Parent Club is returned to the student in various ways such as: Classroom Field Trip assistance, assemblies, Halloween Hike, Field Day, Birthday Books and Pencils.

IMPORTANT:

Please have your child wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind possible getting stained.

The runs are divided up by grade level:

  • Kindergarten at 1:15 p.m.
  • Second Grade at 1:45 p.m.
  • Third Grade at 2:15 p.m.
  • First Grade at 2:45 p.m.

Students will be trained with proven, age-appropriate techniques that are necessary for kids to protect themselves from attackers. Dillon and Dye Elementaries participate In “Trip Around the World” Title I event

Families at Dillon and Dye Elementaries participated in the “Trip Around the World” Title I event during parent-teacher conferences on March 5th.  Students were able to explore science and social studies using books, maps, crafts, and games.  They identified the continents, followed directions on a floor map, and studied the differences between countries, states, cities, and neighborhoods.  The highlight of the night was the build-your-own brownie sundae to represent the layers of the earth!
